The Italian year rests on three pillars: Christmas with Santo Stefano, Easter with Pasquetta, and Ferragosto in mid-August. In August Italy closes almost entirely, and that is the longest window for a Central Asia trip.

Easter on 28 March and Easter Monday on the 29th, which is a public holiday. A classic three-day travel weekend.

The anniversary of Italy’s liberation in 1945. A Sunday in 2027.

The anniversary of the 1946 referendum. Wednesday 2 June — many take the whole week off.
